Plans submitted for £4.5m housing development
Plans to build a £4.5m affordable housing development have been submitted to Weymouth & Portland Borough Council.Charitable housing association BCHA is intending to develop a mix of 31 houses and flats off Radipole Lane at Southill, Weymouth.The site is currently occupied by the 25-unit Marchesi House which was originally designed in 1975 as a sheltered housing complex for older people.Current residents of the building will be offered a home loss and disturbance payment and suitable alternative housing.The new development, designed by architects David James & Partners, will consist of 13 one-bedroom flats in two blocks, 12 two-bedroom houses, six three-bedroom houses and 38 parking spaces.If planning consent is granted, work on the site is expected to start in mid to late summer 2019.
