Plans submitted for 400-home Barton-upon-Humber development
Plans have been lodged for a new residential development to the south of Barton-upon-Humber that would provide almost 400 homes as well as a community orchard, wildflower meadows and new allotments.Banks Property has been developing proposals for a 65-acre site to the east of the A15 and south of Horkstow Road, comprising up to 390 homes of different sizes and types, including affordable housing and bungalows. The company has held a series of public engagement activities on the proposals over the last few months, with the feedback received from local people and community leaders being factored into the evolving project plans.A planning application has now been submitted to North Lincolnshire Council and is expected to come before its planning committee next year. The plans include more than 37 acres of additional public open space, which equates to close to 60 percent of the total site area, as well as new footpaths, wetland areas, wildlife habitats and local road links.A children’s play park and outdoor exercise area will be included, while funding will be allocated to ensure a regular full day bus service serves the site and south of the town to provide a sustainable connection to the wider community and to enable onward connections by bus and rail. The Barton development is the first project to be led by the team in Banks Property’s new Yorkshire office, which has been set up to help enhance its presence across Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire.
