Plans submitted for almost 200 East Yorkshire homes
Almost 200 new homes could be built on a site in East Yorkshire if newly submitted plans get the go-ahead.NorthCountry Homes Ltd has submitted a full planning application to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for development on land to the south of Hull Road, Withernsea.The 17-acre site is located about 800 metres west of the town centre and is currently in agricultural use.Planning permission is sought for a development of 192 homes and a new means of access from Hull Road.The homes would comprise six two-bedroom detached bungalows, 67 two-bed semi-detached houses, 53 three bed semi-detached properties, 50 three-bed detached houses and 16 four-bed detached homes.The development would include a children’s playground, kick about area, amenity space and a footpath link between Carrs Meadow and Hull Road.NorthCountry Homes was established in 1995 to build low-cost homes for sale. It aims to make its average house affordable to a couple living on the minimum wage.A planning statement submitted as part of the application highlighted “substantial positive impacts” as a result of the development, including a gross capital investment of £23m and 592 jobs supported during construction.The site benefits from outline approval, with detail plans for 110 homes on the northern element and 46 on the southern element approved in 2021.It is allocated for housing in the adopted East Riding Local Plan and in the draft East Riding Local Plan Update.
