Plans submitted for whisky distillery
A new distillery producing Welsh whisky and gin could be created in North Wales if newly submitted plans are approved.Halewood International Ltd, a Huyton-headquartered drinks manufacturer and distributor which owns brands including The Pogues Irish Whiskey, Lambrini and Crabbie’s Ginger Beer, has submitted a change of use application to Gwynedd Council for the Old Stores industrial depot at Station Road in Abergwyngregyn.The Aber Falls distillery could become the first in the region for more than 100 years.The company intends to produce a range of alcoholic drinks including gin and liquors at the 64,500 sq ft facility.Alongside the distillery, Halewood also plans to create an onsite visitor centre and offer training courses in distilling spirits.
