POLICY RESEARCH PROGRAMME – UNDERSTANDING RECENT INCREASES IN THE PREVALENCE OF DRUG MISUSE AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE – FUNDING
1. Title: POLICY RESEARCH PROGRAMME – UNDERSTANDING RECENT INCREASES IN THE PREVALENCE OF DRUG MISUSE AMONG YOUNG PEOPLE – FUNDING2. Awarding Authority: NHS National Institute for Health Research, Department of Health and Social Care, GB Email: prp@nihr.ac.uk.3. Contract type: Service contract4. Description: The Awarding Authority invites proposals for research to help understand why recent prevalence data and other indicators suggest youth drug use is rising, in the context of evidence showing that the provision of services for young people and treatment uptake is declining. Understanding this is of substantial policy interest because it will help identify where targeted prevention or treatment interventions could be adapted to ensure that young people access the support they require. This is a significant opportunity to inform policy and implementation in an area of high importance. Research on this area will inform engagement strategies for reaching those who could benefit from accessing services, but who are not currently doing so. It would also inform the design and implementation of targeted interventions to prevent and deter substance use.Ideally, we are looking for a single project covering the research questions in their entirety, but we are open to receiving applications which focus on a specific issues identified in the full research specification. We might wish to commission more than one study.5. CPV Code(s): 73110000, 73210000, 731000006. NUTS code(s): UKI, UKI3, UKI327.
