Preston residential scheme set to advance

A scheme in Preston which could comprise up to 500 homes is set to advance after a formal screening opinion for an environmental impact assessment was requested.Lichfields – on behalf of clients Taylor Wimpey UK and Bloor Homes – is behind the request for a project earmarked for land at Tabley Lane and Sandy Lane.The site forms part of the North West Preston Strategic Location, which is identified in the Central Lancashire Core Strategy as a focus for growth and investment.Taylor Wimpey UK and Bloor Homes were involved throughout the preparation of the Central Lancashire Core Strategy and Preston Local Plan to promote the plot for residential development and met with Preston Council in March 2019 to discuss the proposals.Proposed are two options.The first would comprise up to 500 homes together with associated car parking, public open space, landscaping, access and infrastructure. The second would comprise up to 400 homes, a secondary school, associated playing fields and a local centre, together with associated car parking, public open space, landscaping, access and infrastructure.It is anticipated that a planning application will be submitted in outline with all matters reserved other than access or in hybrid format. If approved, work is expected to commence in 2020 with the construction period likely to last eight to ten years.Jobs would be created during this phase and indirectly through the purchase of goods and services from the supply chain. There would also be further employment and economic output generated during the operational phase.
