A prominent apartment block could be constructed in Coventry with space for more than 400 students and a sky lounge dining area and roof terrace, according to new plans.Birmingham-based G3S Living is behind the proposals for the 19-storey scheme earmarked for land adjacent to the Ramada Hotel at the corner of Butts, Queens Road and York Street.A total of 60 student clusters providing 339 bedrooms and 96 one-bedroom studios would be included in the building if Coventry City Council gives the go-ahead.Also featured would be a sky lounge dining and roof terrace with a 270 degree view, reception and office, presentation room, games room, break-out space and laundry.A total of 140 cycle spaces and six car parking spots form part of the plans which would create seven full-time and three part-time jobs.Designed by the Coventry studio of IDP Architects, the plans have been earmarked for a former car park which has been empty since 2007.The site was previously subject to an approved application for 90 flats and 17 homes for older people as well as leisure space. However, the project was halted because of the 2007/2008 financial crisis, planning documents said.
