Regenda 300-homes estate scheme given green light
Social housing provider Regenda’s scheme for more than 300 homes on a Liverpool estate has been approved. The Liverpool-headquartered housing business is seeking permission to demolish all existing properties on the Grove Street Estate to build 304 new homes. The estate is currently made up of social housing and a commitment has been made by Regenda to increase the number of social homes available on the redeveloped site. There will also be 82 ‘rent-to-buy’ properties. The application was voted through at a meeting of Liverpool City Council’s planning committee. It gives Regenda the green light to move ahead with proposals to develop the Grove Street area, with the site also set to include a café and space for retail, office and community use.A council document published ahead of the committee said the proposed scheme offers a “high quality, residential masterplan that will provide upgraded homes for social tenants”.It noted that it would also provide affordable and private homes that may attract more people to live in the city centre and includes a range of accessible and adaptable homes.”It will reinstate the urban grain, improve pedestrian and cycle connectivity, and as such will have significant regeneration benefits,” the report added.
