Reserved matters approval secured for almost 300 homes

Detailed plans to construct almost 300 homes on a historic manufacturing site in Birmingham have been approved.Homes England is behind the plans for land at Shaftmoor Lane which was once the site of the Joseph Lucas Factory Works, before the company relocated to Solihull in 2014.Rolls Royce then occupied part of the site after Lucas Aerospace and has now relocated to Solihull.The factories on the 20-acre site have already been demolished.The applicant received outline approval to build up to 301 homes on the site last year but has now fixed the number at 296.Designed by Zebra Architects, the scheme comprises a mixture of one, two, three and four-bed properties, with 59 of them allocated as affordable housing.All the dwellings are either two storeys or two and a half storeys with a mixture of terraced, semi-detached and detached properties.The scheme has now been given the go-ahead, subject to conditions.
