Residential-led tower lined up for Cardiff site

Plans have been revealed for a residential-led mixed-use 30-storey tower on a brownfield site in central Cardiff.Rightacres Property Company is preparing to submit a full planning application to redevelop Central Square Plot 5 at land to the north of Wood Street and east of Scott Road. The application site has been cleared for development, having previously been occupied by St David’s House.As well as space for 330 apartments, the proposal incorporates commercial floorspace at ground level; and a two-storey standalone pavilion within the public realm north of Wood Street providing commercial floorspace.The proposed development also includes landscaping, drainage, and a cycle hub that will accommodate 120 bicycles within the public realm around the pavilion.A consultation on the proposal, which seeks to continue the ongoing regeneration of Central Square, has been launched on behalf of Rightacres by Lichfields and runs until 7 of December 2021.The proposed development site is one of the few remaining areas for development within Central Square, with surrounding plots including the BBC Wales Headquarters, the HMRC building ‘T? William Morgan House’, One Central Square and Two Central Square being completed and occupied by businesses and Cardiff University.
