Residential tower planned as part of landmark BTR scheme
Plans have been lodged for a landmark build-to-rent development in Birmingham which features hundreds of homes in a series of buildings rising to 40 storeys.Ryland Estates is seeking the go-ahead for the the redevelopment of land at Bristol Street/Bromsgrove Street/Essex Street, located to the south-west of the city centre.Lined up is the clearance and demolition of all existing buildings and the erection on a phased basis of three blocks of between seven and 40 storeys.They would contain 550 one- to four-bed homes, as well as commercial space, outdoor communal roof gardens/amenity space and shared internal amenity space.A cycle hub incorporating 610 secure cycle storage spaces and seven car club vehicle parking bays are also proposed.A design and access statement said: “The development principle, relating to both the revitalisation of an existing brownfield site and the creation of a residential -led mixed use development, is deemed to be consistent with the requirements of the statutory Development Plan.”The proposal is in accordance with local and national policies and all necessary tests and considerations have been satisfied.”
