A former East Yorkshire bank could be redeveloped into a restaurant if newly submitted plans get the go-ahead.An application has been submitted to East Riding of Yorkshire Council for the change of use of the former NatWest bank on Hallgate in Cottingham, adjacent to the Methodist Church.Planning permission is sought for the conversion of the ground floor of the property into a restaurant.Work will include deepening the front windows and the installation of an extractor flue to the rear of the building. Plans show the proposed restaurant would feature 56 covers.A design and access statement submitted as part of the application said the proposed development would “generate employment” and make use of existing commercial premises to provide “new facilities to serve the local community”.The ground floor of the property is currently vacant while the first floor is used as offices.
