SA1 development reaches halfway mark
Construction of the first phase of the £300m SA1 Swansea Waterfront development has reached the halfway point, with a number of businesses from the area working on the project.Phase 1 will provide a new home for the faculties of architecture, computing and engineering, education and communities at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David (UWTSD), as well as a new library. It is scheduled to open in September 2018.Kier Construction, which has been appointed to oversee the development and has so far awarded £18m worth of contracts to Wales-based businesses.These include Swansea-based AB Glass, which is providing the windows and glazing; Nautilus, the Academic Building roofing subcontractor; Reussir, which has secured a contract for the brickwork and blockwork; and Certus, which has been appointed as the screeding subcontractor.
