One of Scotland’s largest social landlords and care and support providers has secured a £10m loan from Royal Bank of Scotland to provide affordable, energy efficient homes across the country.Trust Housing Association provides a range of social rent options, and housing for those in later life as well as shared ownership and mid-market homes. The funding deal will enable the organisation to continue to invest in local communities through the provision of affordable, sustainable new build properties, it says, as well as retrofit its existing homes to increase energy efficiency and help alleviate pressures for tenants throughout the cost-of-living crisis.Trust says its new developments are designed to be as environmentally friendly as possible, incorporating zero heating systems that help to reduce carbon emissions and alleviate fuel poverty.Zoe Purdie, Trust’s director of finance and people, said: “With homes across the length and breadth of Scotland, we’re deeply rooted in the communities we serve and work hard to create genuine connections with our tenants – from those looking a helping hand later in life, to young families setting up their first home.“Our customers are facing significant challenges amid the cost-of-living crisis, and we’re committed to supporting them by providing high quality, affordable homes which work towards Scotland’s net zero targets.“Funding from Royal Bank of Scotland will make a significant impact as we work towards our ambitious strategic growth plan and continue to invest in local communities.”Alan Newlands, the bank’s relationship manager, added: “At Royal Bank of Scotland we’ve worked alongside Trust Housing Association for over 25 years, and as a purpose-led organisation, much like ourselves, we are continuously inspired by the dedication of its team in providing safe and affordable for thousands of tenants across the country.“Whether a long-standing customer or a new relationship, Royal Bank of Scotland is committed to supporting ambitious businesses and organisations who are looking to make a positive impact in local towns and communities. We’re excited to support Trust as they continue to evolve and provide not just houses, but homes.”Read next: Guinness failings left child living in damp and mouldy homeAre you a social housing professional?
