Serviced accommodation building verges on thumbs up
Proposals to construct a new serviced accommodation building in Cardiff is on the verge of receiving the thumbs up. The applicant has committed to contributing more than £100,000 to benefit the local area if the approval is secured.Drake Walk Ltd lodged plans for the construction of a six-storey building, comprised of 77 aparthotel rooms adjacent to Drake Walk.The residential element of the application is located on the upper five floors of the building, with a commercial space and lobby area on the ground floor.The application site is a parcel of land at the western boundary of the Waterfront 2000 office park and directly west of the Dock Feeder Canal.If the scheme is approved, the applicant has committed to contributing £55,000 for improvement to public open space, £50,000 towards improvement of community facilities and £4,000 for the investigation and implementation of new parking control traffic orders on Craiglee Drive, Celerity Drive and Vellacott Close.A report to be scrutinised by the committee recommends that the plans be given the green light.
