Shopping centre earmarked for drive-thru restaurant
A job-creating drive-thru restaurant has been proposed for land at a Leicester shopping centre.Beaumont Leys Properties is seeking the go-ahead to build a facility on the northern end of the car parking area associated with Beaumont Leys Shopping Centre.Extending to about 2,500 sq ft, the restaurant would be accompanied by an EV charging facility.This would include 12 electric vehicles spaces, together with associated infrastructure.The drive-thru unit’s aesthetic is to be decided by future operator.A statement lodged with Leicester City Council on behalf of the applicant said: “The proposed development will contribute to building a strong, responsive and competitive economy.”In particular, the proposals will bring a number of economic and fiscal benefits in terms of job creation and increased expenditure in the local economy. The proposed development will also contribute to generating additional business rates for the council.”
