Significant step forward for Metal Works scheme
Stalled plans for the Metal Works development in Liverpool, which comprises more than 400 residential units, have taken a significant step forward.Jarron Investments has officially submitted a planning application for the scheme, which is made up of two interconnected 15-storey buildings with 405 residential units. The properties will be a mix of one bedroom studios, two and three bedroom apartments and three bedroom townhouses.A ground floor commercial unit is also proposed as part of the development, with communal facilities including a gym and resident reception. The buildings are proposed for land bordered by Vauxhall Road, Freemasons Row, Gladstone Street And Naylor Street.A planning statement said that the development will “enable delivery of a key regeneration site on the edge of Liverpool city centre and bring forward a site which has previously stalled for various reasons”.It added that, since acquiring the site, Jarron has worked with the Council to create a “high-quality, residential led development on the site at the first opportunity”.The site remains ready for development having been cleared in preparation for a previous consent.According to the planning statement, Jarron’s project has been designed to “respond positively to national and local plan policy incorporating measures to deliver social and economic benefits, while also protecting and enhancing the environment, and mitigating and adapting to the effects of climate change”.If backed, the building will sit in close proximity to a number of regeneration and development locations, including Liverpool Waters and Bramley Moore Dock.
