Silverstone appointed to oversee hotel refurbishment
Leeds-based Silverstone Building Consultancy has been appointed to oversee a multimillion-pound Liverpool hotel refurbishment project.The company will support work on the North Western Hotel on behalf of Fairfield Real Estate Finance.The grade II-listed building, originally designed by Alfred Waterhouse in 1871, is located at the heart of Liverpool’s Civic Centre, directly adjacent to the train station.The building was previously used as a hotel but a major overhaul is now being coordinated by the developer North Western Hall Investments.Works will include structural alterations and will result in the creation of a 201-bed hotel. The development will also incorporate a restaurant and bar on the ground floor with conference facilities, meeting rooms and a gym at lower ground floor level.Silverstone, a specialist firm of building surveyors and project managers, will act as project monitor for the duration of the contract. This will include undertaking monthly site inspections and providing feedback to the funder, including the review and agreement of drawdowns from the facility agreement.Deansgate Contractors has been appointed as main contractor on the redevelopment.
