Solar and battery storage plans lodged
Plans have been lodged for a solar farm and battery storage facility in Immingham. One Planet Developments, supported by SLR Consulting, has submitted a full planning application to North East Lincolnshire Council for an agricultural site to the south of Immingham, adjacent to the A180, forming part of the Brocklesby Estate.Planning permission is sought for the construction and operation of a ground mounted photovoltaic solar farm with a maximum export capacity of 49.9MW, together with a battery energy storage system (BESS) with a capacity of 30MW.The plans include associated infrastructure, comprising CCTV, security fencing, substation, storage and welfare containers, and an emergency water supply tank. The development would have an operational life of 40 years, following which the solar panels will then be decommissioned and removed.A planning statement submitted as part of the application said: “The delivery of the proposed development will help the Humber Industrial cluster to decarbonise, an urgent task given it emits more carbon dioxide than any other UK industrial cluster with total emissions standing at 14.8 MtC02 per year or 15.9 tonnes of carbon dioxide for each Humber resident – more than double the national average.”One Planet develops large scale solar and battery energy storage sites across the UK, and is currently bringing forward a 1.3GW portfolio.
