Solar farm and battery storage proposed for Humber site
Plans have been lodged for a new solar farm and battery energy storage system facility on the Humber.Renewable Connections Developments has submitted an application to North East Lincolnshire Council for development on a 202-acre site to the west of Bradley Road in Bradley, Grimsby.Planning permission is sought for a 43.7MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic farm and a 10MW Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) facility, together with associated infrastructure. If approved, construction is expected to take about six months and would involve the creation of a site access, tracks, service trenches, fencing, CCTV and gates.A statement submitted as part of the application said the proposed development would generate direct and indirect employment when the plant is operational. It added: “Solar is a key part of the government’s strategy for low-cost decarbonisation of the energy sector. Battery storage is designed to augment electricity supply in times of high demand.”The wider environmental benefits and sustainability credentials associated with the increased production of energy from renewable sources represents a significant case in favour of the proposed development.”The project team includes, GP Planning, Applied Landscape Design, Neo Environmental, Bradley Murphy Design, Origin Transport Consultants, GHC Heritage, LF Acoustics, and Askew Land and Soils.
