Solihull apartment building set to move forward
An apartment building proposed for the site of offices in Solihull has been recommended for approval.Planning permission is sought for the redevelopment of land at Olton Wharf, off Richmond Road. The site is home to a three-storey office building with an adjoining car servicing depot, which would be demolished as part of the scheme.Designed by Neil Boddison Associates Ltd, plans involve the construction of a four-storey building comprising 42 one- and two-bedroom properties.A total of 46 off-street car parking spaces would be provided, including six EV charging points.Solihull Council’s planning committee will consider the application on 2 February.A report for the committee said: “The scheme would make a contribution to addressing the shortfall in housing land supply in the borough, which is a social benefit.”The construction phase of the development will deliver some economic benefits and future occupants of the dwellings will also contribute to the vibrancy of the area”The proposal would not detract from the character and appearance of the area, rather the development would be a respectful addition which enhances its surroundings.”
