Speculative units proposed for Humber business park

Two industrial units could be speculatively built at a prominent business park on the Humber Estuary if newly submitted plans get the go-ahead. Property company Wykeland Group has submitted a reserved matters application to North East Lincolnshire Council for development on plots 19 and 20 at the Europarc development in Grimsby.The application site measures 3.07 acres and is located on Genesis Way, adjacent to the premises occupied by Haith’s. Planning permission is sought for the construction of two new industrial properties of 30,000 sq ft and 15,000 sq ft. The units would be provided with 46 and 28 parking spaces, respectively. The units will be built speculatively and are designed to be as flexible and future proof as possible. The master plan for the 123.6-acre Europarc was created in 1996. Previous developments have resulted in the construction of about 750,000 sq ft of buildings, supporting the creation of almost 2,500 jobs and capital investment of more than £90m. Outline planning permission was previously granted in 2012 for the remaining undeveloped plots at the Europarc, including the application site, enabling a range of commercial uses. A planning statement submitted as part of the application said further developments are required for Europarc to “attract the new companies necessary to complete the site, creating the jobs which are vitally needed in North East Lincolnshire and to continue to ensure the site’s long term sustainability”.Hull-headquartered Wykeland Group operates a multimillion-pound property portfolio which also includes Flemingate in Beverley, Bridgehead Business Park in Hessle and @TheDock in Hull.
