Step forward for HS2 transport hub
Plans to create a major transport hub at Birmingham International Station, which could create an “iconic gateway” to the region, have taken a step forward after a local authority approved plans to submit an outline business case for the scheme.Birmingham International Station Integrated Transport Hub is earmarked to open by December 2025, ahead of the arrival of HS2 in the West Midlands. It is estimated to cost almost £286m.Following approval by its cabinet, Solihull Council will lodge the business case for the project with the government, the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) and the Greater Birmingham and Solihull LEP.
