Step forward for major regeneration scheme
A major regeneration scheme in Birmingham has taken a step forward after a deal was agreed to lease the land.Birmingham City Council has agreed a deal with government housing agency Homes England for the 6-acre site in Montague Street, Digbeth, to create one of the city’s largest developments.The land has been earmarked to be transformed into a new neighbourhood, with the potential for about1,000 new homes and up to 270,000 sq ft of employment space.The authority’s cabinet gave the go-ahead for negotiations after a report on the proposed sale of the site was discussed on 11 February.
