Stockport mixed-use scheme secures green light
A new £20m mixed-use scheme, which is expected to create more than 300 jobs, has been given the green light in Stockport.Real estate investor and developer Scarborough Group International has secured hybrid planning consent from Stockport Council for its 12.5-acre Orbital 1 scheme on Junction 1 of the M60. It is proposing a mixed-use industrial, trade counter and retail project.Scarborough submitted a hybrid planning application in December 2015. The first phase involves the development of 55,000 sq ft of retail space and significant investment in infrastructure, while detailed plans for 72,500 sq ft of industrial and trade counter units and a 1,500 sq ft café are expected to be submitted imminently.The site has a gross development value of more than £20m.Nearby occupiers include Audi, BMW, Volkswagen, B&Q, Decathlon, Pets at Home and the Co-operative Bank.Knight Frank and Davies Harrison are acting as joint industrial agents and Lambert Smith Hampton is acting for the retail occupiers. Zerum Consult was instructed as planning consultant.
