Summerston site earmarked for new neighbourhood
An application has been submitted to Glasgow City Council seeking planning permission in principle for a residential development in Summerston.Caledonian Properties wants to create a “high quality” neighbourhood on land bounded by the River Kelvin, Blackhill Road and Balmore Road.The number of proposed homes is not revealed in the application however, a transport assessment examined the impact on the surrounding area of a 500-home development.The homes will be mainly two storeys, providing a mix of two, three and four-bedroom dwellings. Houses will generally be detached, but interspersed with semi-detached and terraced units.Further details of the scheme would need to be approved at a later date.A report submitted on the applicant’s behalf states it has “ambitions to create a new high-quality residential neighbourhood in Summerston”.
