Cornwall-based property developer Tamar Valley Homes has broken ground on a development luxury low-carbon properties after securing a six-figure loan from Lloyds Bank’s Clean Growth Finance Initiative (CGFI).The trio of ultra-sustainable bespoke homes is being developed on a brownfield site of almost one acre in Launceston, on the border between Cornwall and Devon. All three will feature air source heat pumps and will be powered with electricity and solar power, rather than gas. Battery storage units will also be installed to capture any excess energy in times of reduced demand.Graeme Barriball, managing director at Tamar Valley Homes, said: “The way we develop our properties and how we implement their energy strategies has never been more crucial.”Surging energy prices are leaving consumers facing increasing costs, with little they can do to mitigate the risks. Implementing state-of-the-art, clean energy solutions at the build stage is cost effective and will allow homeowners to become more energy independent, mitigating the worst effects of the energy crisis.”The continued support we’ve received from Lloyds Bank has allowed us to invest in the future of the business and ensure we continue to innovate and strive towards more sustainable housing.”Michael Tonkin, relationship manager at Lloyds Bank, added: “Developing sustainable solutions for our housing supply is allowing consumers to cut costs and retain the South West’s vast natural beauty.”Tamar Valley Homes has identified a series of energy efficient solutions that will reduce consumer demand on fossil fuels and increase homeowners’ green property credentials.”
