Taylor Wimpey kick-starts two Edinburgh developments
Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has started work on the first phases of two new developments in Edinburgh which will provide 510 new homes.The Hawthorn Gardens development at South Scotstoun in South Queensferry will deliver 341 new homes whilst the Bankfield Brae development, off Greendykes Road at Greendykes South, will provide 169 new homes.The Hawthorn Gardens development will comprise of a range of two-bedroom apartments, two, three, four and five-bedroom homes, as well as 25% affordable homes.As part of the Section 75 planning agreement with The City of Edinburgh Council, Taylor Wimpey East Scotland will make a significant community contribution of over £7 million towards education, health and local transport infrastructure.Bankfield Brae will deliver a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments as well as a choice of two, three, and four-bedroom homes to provide a range of options for first-time buyers and growing families. The development will also feature a small retail unit helping to meet the local needs of existing and future communities.The development forms part of the £200m Craigmillar masterplan to deliver 1,800 new homes, town centre development and public realm improvements including a new joint campus primary school, affordable homes, new shops, a library and a multi-function council office.
