Taylor Wimpey secures approval for 800-home scheme

Taylor Wimpey has secured planning consent for a development of up to 800 homes in West Yorkshire.The housebuilder’s Swinnow Park scheme would comprise up to 800 new homes, a convenience store, primary school and public open spaces on a 98-acre site off Racecourse Approach in Wetherby.The development would include a mix of two-to-five-bedroom residences, 35 per cent of which would be affordable housing.It could bring more than 2,700 jobs and in excess of £7m in community funding to the area. It is estimated that 85 construction jobs per annum will be generated over the duration of Swinnow Park’s build period and a further 125 supply chain jobs will be supported per annum as a result of the proposals.The application has now been approved by Leeds City Council’s City Plans Panel, with a decision having been deferred at previous meetings earlier this year and in 2019.
