Templepatrick hotel extension approved
Planning permission has been granted for the extension of a Templepatrick hotel.Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council has granted planning permission for an extension to the Rabbit Hotel and Retreat, located at Antrim Road.Representing an £8m investment by the Galgorm Group, the approved plans include a 46-bedroom extension, enhanced spa and leisure facilities, alongside dedicated parking and garden areas.It is designed to build upon Galgorm Collection’s previous investment of £2.5m in the hotel, which included the establishment of the spa, refurbishment of bar and restaurant facilities, enhancement of banqueting and conference amenities, and upgrading of existing bedrooms.The proposed expansion is expected to generate a range of economic benefits for the Borough, including 30,000 additional visitor stays per year, the creation of 30 employment opportunities, jobs during the construction phase, and boost business for local supply-chains.Councillor Robert Foster, chairperson of the Planning Committee, said: “This latest planned investment from the Galgorm Group underscores their commitment to enhancing tourism infrastructure within our Borough.”The extension to The Rabbit Hotel promises not only to elevate the hospitality experience for visitors but also to stimulate economic growth and employment opportunities in the region.”
