Three sites lined up for extra care housing developments

Up to 165 new homes specially designed to help older people live independently are set to be provided across three sites in Surrey.Surrey County Council has unveiled plans for three new extra care housing developments in Guildford, Surrey Heath and Runnymede.Extra care housing allows older people to live in their own homes with care and support staff always on hand. The new homes would mark a major step towards the county council’s goal of creating up to 725 new extra care homes by 2028.Between them, the three developments would provide up to 165 apartments.Surrey County Council’s Cabinet will consider the plans at its meeting on Tuesday (29 October).The proposals would bring into use sites on the county council’s own land. The three sites are: the former Pond Meadow School, Pond Meadow, Guildford; the former Pinehurst Resource Centre, Park Road, Camberley; the former Brockhurst Care Home, Brox Road, Ottershaw.
