Tigers sign up developer for £22m hotel project
Leicester Tigers have signed a deal with a developer to construct their planned £22m hotel near the club’s Welford Road stadium. The news was confirmed a formal planning application was submitted this week.Marshall Commercial Property Development has been lined up to work on the project which is subject to Leicester City Council approving the scheme in the coming months.A formal planning application was submitted to the authority earlier this week.If the go-ahead is granted, construction would start in the summer of 2019.The company will be responsible for building the proposed five-floor 183-room hotel on the surrounding 1.7-acre Granby Halls car park site.It will work with Leicester-based construction consultancy Pick Everard, who completed the original designs for the project and will oversee the build.
