Transformation of former school tipped for go-ahead

The redevelopment of a former high school site into almost 120 apartments and town houses has been recommended to be given the green light next week.Kings High School for Girls in Chapel Street, Warwick, has been set aside for the proposed scheme which would see 118 homes created.Wake Green is behind the application which will be voted on by Warwick District Council’s planning committee at a virtual meeting on Tuesday 14 July.If the go-ahead is granted, the gym, sixth form and language buildings would be knocked down as well as the Priory Building.The modern elements attached to the listed buildings on the site would also be demolished.The original application sought permission for 135 homes while the number of units set aside for affordable housing has increased from 10 to 36.The number of car parking spaces have also risen from 230 to 268.The plans have been drawn up by Corstorphine+Wright Architects.
