Trio of supported living residential schemes given green light

A trio of supported living residential schemes in Newcastle have been given the green light.A total of 58 units have been approved, subject to conditions, after being reviewed by Newcastle City Council’s planning committee on 21 February 2020. Developed by Tolent Living, the schemes were submitted as three seperate applications.The first application involves the construction of 14 two-bed residential units, comprised of 10 bungalows and four flats, located at the site of the former Cowgate Leisure Centre on Hartshill Avenue. The properties are specialist affordable units for persons aged 60 and above, with the scheme also providing 27 car parking spaces.Tolent also intends to build 14 flats and three bungalows on land north of Walker Road and south of Lancefield Road, along with 19 car parking spaces. The proposed dwellings would be for affordable rent for people aged 55 or over.Located on land at Wansford Avenue, the final application to be scrutinised by planners on 21 February 2020 involves the development of a residential block that would contain three, two-bedroom apartments and twelve, one-bedroom apartments, along with staff facilities and shared communal lounge.Additionally, two three-bed bungalows are proposed, with the scheme providing 100 per cent affordable housing.
