Tritax submits plans for £80m Oxfordshire R&D project
Shed developer Tritax Symmetry has submitted plans for a 600,000 sq ft global R&D facility for Siemens Healthineers.The combined research, development and production facility in Oxfordshire will provide superconducting magnets used in MRI systems.Designed by Leicestershire architect SGP, the facility will cost around £80m to build sustaining around 670 construction jobs over the two-year build programme.The 48-acre site on land north of the A41 and east of Junction 9 of the M40, known as Symmetry Park, Oxford North, has been chosen following an extensive site search by Siemens Healthineers.Main production facilities behind the front three-storey offices will be delivered in two phasesThe building will be bespoke to Siemens Healthineers’ design and production process and delivered to net zero carbon in construction.It has been designed to achieve a minimum rating of BREEAM Excellent and will incorporate substantial solar Photo Voltaic (PV) coverage on the roof.
