U+I reveals detailed Mayfield images

U+I has revealed the first detailed images of the £1.4bn Mayfield masterplan.The area opposite Manchester Piccadilly station has been largely unused and unfrequented for 30 years but is now the centre of a major regeneration scheme, led on behalf of the Mayfield Partnership.In the last two years, U+I has invested in opening up previously inaccessible areas of the 30-acre site as part of its strategy to re-establish the area.Visitor numbers peaked in 2019, with Depot Mayfield becoming the new home of The Warehouse Project (WHP). It also hosted Manchester Pride Live, while a weekly independent street food market curated by GRUB attracted 35,000 people.Mayfield Partnership has submitted two planning applications to Manchester City Council for the first phase of development, with work expected to begin in 2020.Subject to planning consent, Mayfield will be home to the city’s first park in a century. The proposals also include a 13-storey office building, a nine-storey commercial space and a 581-strong multi-storey car park.
