London Borough of Croydon invites suitable expression of interest from suppliers for Croydon Council’s Special Educational Needs (SEN) team is seeking to commission an early years learning provision to meet the needs of children aged 2 – 4 years old who have special educational needs and/or disabilities. The service will deliver 15 hours childcare per week, as alternative provision for children with special educational needs and disabilities, whose needs cannot be met through existing universal services. The provision will be delivered flexibly within the hours of Monday to Friday, 8:30-17:00.
The Contractor will be expected to deliver a service that mirrors that of universal services whilst addressing the significant and complex needs of the children, who will require educational provision and support that is additional to or different from their peers. This is special educational provision under Section 21 of the Children and Families Act 2014.
The London Borough of Croydon aims for the vast majority of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities to attend mainstream early years settings to encourage inclusion, however it is recognised that a small number of children will need significant support to access early years education. A small number will need to attend a specialist provision or a specially adapted environment, which will be resourced by this Contract.
