Short description of the contract or purchase(s):: Royal Mail Group Limited (‘RMG’) is seeking to procure Vehicle Tracking and Telemetry goods and services (including associated services) for RMG’s ( including Parcelforce) 7.5 t and 6.5 t fleet of up to 2,400 vehicles including, but not limited to,Duty management (as detailed below)
It should be noted that RMG’s overall fleet can be logically split into the following three categories:
7.5 tonnes gross weight and 6.5 tonnes gross weight (the subject of this Contract Notice), used both for transfer of mail between Distribution Centres, Mail Centres and Delivery Offices, and for deliveries to customer sites. Managed regionally, operated by professional drivers. RMG’s 7.5 t Fleet requirements are for up to 2 400 vehicles. Further information is set out in Section II.2.1.
Network HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) Fleet – typically 18 tonnes gross weight, used for bulk transfer of mail between the National and Regional Distribution Centres and Mail Centres. Managed centrally, operated by professional drivers.
LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle) Fleet – up to 3.5 tonnes gross weight, primarily used for collection and delivery of mail. Managed locally, operated by postal delivery staff.
HGV and LCV are not covered by this contract notice.
The framework agreement for the 7.5 t fleet requirement will have an initial term of 4 years, with the option to extend up to 36 months (possibly in 12 months increments) at RMG’s sole discretion. The contract value and duration stated in section II.3, section II.1.4 and section II.2.1 is based upon the potential maximum framework duration, namely 7 years.
The Framework agreement will include the provision of hardware, software and support services.
