Short description of the contract or purchase(s):: This category encompasses ductile iron covers, frames and surface boxes for use in carriageways, footways or similar, bedding resin required for their installation, and chamber sections to seat them on. It is for the supply of the above goods, or acceptable alternatives.
The category is split into 3 areas: covers, chamber sections and bedding material.
All sizes below are clear opening dimensions.
Covers includes both the covers and frames for their installation.
Lot 1 – Covers (Standard) consists of Thames Water’s most commonly used covers, for example the D400 600 mm x 600 mm, D400 675 mm x 675 mm, and B125 600 mm x 450 mm.
Lot 2 – Grade A Surface boxes is for the supply of Grade A surface boxes as required by Thames Water. Commonly used sizes are 380 mm x 230 mm (which is often supplied in yellow ) and a square frame with a circular lid of diameter 150 mm, which has replaced the previously used 150 mm x 150 mm cover.
Lot 3 – Covers (Low leakage and sealed) is for the supply of low leakage variants of commonly used covers, such as D400 600 mm x 600 mm and D400 675 mm x 675 mm covers.
Lot 4 – Covers (Specialist sizes) is for the supply of the remaining range of access covers used by Thames Water, including sealing plates where required. This lot also includes covers with a A15 to F900 load class. Expected high volume sizes within this lot are D400 900 mm x 600 mm and 1 220 mm x 675 mm.
Chamber sections consists of the supply of preformed chamber sections, bases and hats (top sections) to form chambers to seat covers on top of. Requirements include the ability to maintain structural integrity while allowing a port for pipe entry, and a D400 or higher load rating.
Lot 5 Chamber section is for the supply of chamber sections for most chamber sizes in Thames water including both the commonly used sizes and larger ones such as 900 mm x 600 mm and 1 220 mm x 675 mm covers.
Lot 6 Offsite assembled chambers is for the development and supply of offsite assembled chambers containing assets such as air valves.
Lot 7 Bedding Material is for fast setting bedding material in a variety of packet sizes, including 25 kg and smaller tubs to suit the fitting of both large and small covers outlined in Lot 1-4.
Thames Water may require delivery of products directly to customer, to central stores or to project site.
Contracts awarded under the framework agreements may be awarded directly by Thames Water or by one of its approved contractors or an approved sub-contractor. The supplier will be expected to offer the same levels of service and commercial benefits to Thames Water and its approved contractors and sub-contractors.
For single large scale requirements the supplier may be required to ‘project manage’ to ensure that all goods are supplied in a timely manner and project costs re minimised.
This notice is a request for expressions of interest to participate in the bid process to establish the framework agreements.
Thames Water will consider how lots may be combined (If at all) subject to responses received from applicants and in particular where this is considered to offer economic advantage.
Thames Water reserves the right not to award Framework Agreements for one or more Lots.
Companies may apply individually and/or provide joint venture or consortium applications.
