Vision for colliery regeneration to move forward
A vision outlining proposals to regenerate a major Staffordshire colliery with new commercial and residential facilities could soon take a step forward.Stoke-on-Trent City Council’s cabinet is to vote on whether to note ‘A Vision for Chatterley Whitfield January 2022’ as a potential baseline for the restoration of the former colliery.Chatterley Whitfield is a disused colliery site which extends to approximately 25.9 acres. The vision shows a mixed-use business, enterprise, industry and innovation park with an opportunity for new housing. It suggests the site would be zoned into commercial, services, community, research and learning uses, with the housing either clustered across the site or focussed on the adjoining undeveloped land.
