We Made That wins major Thames Estuary commission

AJ 40 under 40 practice We Made That has been chosen to lead a £3.7 billion creative industry-led regeneration vision for the Thames EstuaryThe rising stars – working with HawkinsBrown, PRD, Ramidus, Tom Fleming Creative Consultancy, Suzie Norton and Jan Miller – won the job through Lot 1 of the GLA’s Architecture Design and Urbanism Panel (ADUP).The winning team has been picked by the Thames Estuary Production Corridor Partners for the next stage of its project to ensure the estuary becomes the UK’s largest and most significant concentration of creative production.Key elements of the commission will include: identifying potential development sites across London, Kent and Essex; creating action plans for the region’s high growth industries, including fashion design and manufacturing and screen-based industries; and developing feasibility studies for up to five flagship projects across London, Kent and Essex.The project is backed by the Mayor of London, the South East LEP and partners in east London, south Essex and north Kent, and is supported by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government.The appointment comes a year after We Made That was named as part of the winning team in a contest to co-design a £1.2 million waterside recreational, work or leisure facility on the Grand Union Canal in Harlesden.
