Two Wirral schools are among just 61 across the country to be selected for investment through the Government’s School Rebuilding Programme.Riverside Primary School in Seacombe and Wallasey’s Mosslands School will receive major upgrades after being awarded funds. The council said it will “transform” education for their pupils as part of a national £1bn investment to level up education. The new buildings will be energy efficient designs with high sustainability standards and will be Net Zero in operation.Simone White, Wirral Council’s director for children, families and education, said: “The work will transform the educational environment children learn in, ensuring all children have access to high quality facilities and activities to help them fulfil their potential.”The project is being managed and funded by the Department for Education (DfE). Meetings will now take place between the DfE, the schools and Wirral Council to develop what the rebuilds will look like. These schools were prioritised because they met one or more of a number of criteria. These are that they have buildings of specific construction types that require replacement and their buildings have the highest condition need. Also that their buildings have severe and urgent condition need that meant they were a high priority for replacement.
