WMCA backs major housing plans

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) has invested £3m to support plans for up to 175 homes on the site of a former secondary school in Solihull. The public sector body has also provided £787,000 backing to proposals for a new waterside neighbourhood in Walsall.The deal with Solihull Council paves the way for the infrastructure and enabling works needed for the 175-home scheme on land which was once home to Simon Digby School in Chelmsley Wood. The £787,000 investment will support the construction of 15 townhouses and a small park on canalside land off Marsh Lane. This scheme has been brought forward by House by Urban Splash.
