Work progressing well on Port Talbot regeneration project

Work is progressing well on the regeneration of the Harbourside Strategic Employment Site in Port Talbot’s former docklands.The regeneration work includes remediation of former brownfield land, construction of an access road, the upgrading of existing highways, flood mitigation measures and an extension to the car park adjacent to Port Talbot’s Parkway Railway Station.Since work began in March, Port Talbot-based contractor Andrew Scott Ltd has now completed the flood mitigation measures beneath Harbour Way. Remediation works to the development site are ahead of schedule and work on Cramic Way and Parkway Car Parks is due to start this month (August 2021).The project is due to complete in March 2022.The improvement scheme has secured £2.7m worth of funding from the European Regional Development Fund, via the Welsh Government. This follows EU funding in the regeneration work, including £54m for the Harbour Way M4 link road, £7.5m in TWI’s engineering research centre and £2.5m in the town’s new Integrated Transport Hub.
