Work set to begin on £1m coalfields housing project
Work is set to begin on a new £1m residential development being spearheaded by a Barnsley-based property company.CRT Property Investments is the commercial and residential property subsidiary of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, which works to improve the quality of life in Britain’s former mining communitiesWork is set to officially start on the £1m residential development on Washington Road, which is comprised of ten affordable homes.The development will begin with the demolition of two derelict properties, which were bought by the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, before four semi-detached homes and six detached houses are built on the landExtensive analysis of the housing stock within the Goldthorpe area found that the most pressing requirement was for two-bedroom homes.Berneslai Homes will manage the properties on behalf of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust, ensuring that the development meets with the needs of the local community.Property investment and development director Shaun O’Brien said: “We know that the ongoing housing crisis is having a disproportionate impact on the coalfield communities and recognise that someone needs to do something about it.
