Work starts on £12m football stadium project
A Scunthorpe-based contractor has started a £750,000 contract to design, fabricate and install full structural steelwork for the new Boston United Community Stadium.Britcon Engineering Services (BES) has been appointed to the job by Chestnut Homes.The Pilgrims’ new £12m stadium is being built to Football League standards with increased capacity from 4,000 to 5,000.It will also provide a new range of community, sports, education and training programmes. The scheme includes a sports hall, an all-weather 3G pitch for community use and educational and conference facilities. A climbing wall and dance studio have also been added to future plans.BES has started the installation and aims to complete the West and North stands with associated facilities by the start of 2020/2021 season with the East and South stands to follow.BES is the steelwork manufacturing division of £47m-turnover building and engineering firm Britcon.
