Work starts on 49 new affordable homes in Glasgow
WORK is under way to deliver new affordable homes on the site of a former church in Glasgow’s south side.A total of 49 new mid-market homes are being built at the former Hermon Baptist Church, and former women’s hostel, in Inglefield Street, Govanhill for Glasgow Housing Association (GHA).Glasgow-based CCG will lead the project, utilising the offsite manufacture of timber systems, intended to deliver enhanced levels of energy performance. The addition of A-rated appliances and solar PV seeks to further aid in reducing carbon emissions and encouraging energy savings.Comprising a mix of one and two-bedroom flats, the development is due to be ready by summer 2020 and will be let and managed by GHA’s partners in Wheatley Group, Lowther Homes.
