Work starts on £93m Edgbaston transformation scheme
Work has started on a £93m project to build 375 apartments on land next to Birmingham’s Edgbaston Stadium.The ‘Edgbaston Residences’ complex will be constructed alongside a new entrance plaza and car parking facilities as well as new retail and leisure opportunities.Winvic Construction was appointed as the main contractor by Warwickshire County Cricket Club & PATRIZIA AG, which purchased the residential site next to the Pershore Road from Warwickshire CCC and Homes England.All works are expected to be completed in the second half of 2023 with the plaza, landscaping and car parking works completed by spring 2022, when Edgbaston hosts the women’s T20 tournament in the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and a men’s Test match between England and South Africa.Warwickshire CCC’s key advisors on the project were Savills, Gowlings WLG & Wilson Owen Owens.
