Work starts on luxury spa development
Work has commenced on the scheme to create a new luxury spa at Breedon Priory Health Club in Melbourne, Derbyshire.Derby-based project managers and construction cost consultant Armsons and YMD Boon Architects are heading up a multi-disciplinary team which comprises of structural engineers Jackson Purdue Lever, Birmingham-based mechanical and electrical engineers HBA and Ashby-based landscape architects Lush Garden Design.Planning permission was approved in March 2018 for the project, which involves the demolition of the old golf club house and tied dwelling to make way for the new boutique spa facility.The spa will be located on the existing footprint of the golf club building and includes facilities such as treatment rooms, relaxation areas, pools, saunas, and steam rooms, along with a restaurant and a shop. This will be followed at a later date by the replacement of another tied dwelling and the construction of six holiday lodges, which will be constructed from wood and located on the fairway to the former 18th green.Breedon Priory Health Club was purchased in 2013 by Sigourney Gates and her family.
