ISG appointed to Fusion Students development in Sheffield



The construction and property development company ISG have been appointed to build a premium student accommodation building in Sheffield on behalf of the student housing company Fusion Students, after recently being appointed to a similar project this year in Swansea.

The Fusion Students development in Sheffield will be delivered at a cost of £46.5M whereas the Swansea development will cost a total of £39M, bring the total amount of contracts that have been won and completed by ISG on behalf of Fusion Students in 2019 to a sum of more than £150M.

Further projects which ISG have completed for Fusion Students this year have been in Cardiff, costing £40M, and Hatfield, costing £26M, while the Sheffield and Swansea developments are not scheduled to achieve completion until 2021.

The Sheffield development will consist of four blocks, ranging from six-storeys to 17-storeys, and will comprise of a total of 864 accommodation units whereas the Swansea development will accommodate 780 students in a 17-storey block as well as surrounding buildings that are between six and eight-storeys tall.

The ISG Regional Director, Tim Harvey stated: “Fusion Students is driving the transformation of the student accommodation market and setting the benchmark for aspirational living that clearly resonates with its customers.

“The Sheffield scheme is our fourth project for Fusion since 2017 and represents its largest and most ambitious development to date. The strength, expertise and consistency of our regional contracting business is a highly important factor in our ongoing partnership with Fusion as we look to support its future growth ambitions across major UK conurbations.”
